Heres mine, feel free to add to the list.. .. thought it might encourage a few of you to leave the marina :-)

  • South Side of Inchlonaig, small inlet to east of house. (Shallow and not much room to swing.. but sandy bottom)

  • Loch Sloy Jetty (bit of a goldfish bowl on busy days and Cruise Loch Lomond fairly ram the jetty when tying up, you can get water here and a nice cup of coffee at the teashop)

  • Ardvorlich Bay.. (pity the road is so near but quiet at night), good holding on the anchor.

  • Port Bawn, Inchcailloch (Sandy bottom not good holding and open to south westerlies)

  • Golf Bay, (some good birds or prey to watch in here, good holding on the anchor, dont be tempted to use the old mooring.. its not been serviced in years)

  • North west side of Inchmoan, 750m east from spit at old house. (good holding, bottom shelves near shore so you can anchor well in, one of the quieter locations in the narrows)

  • 100m off the old jetty and boat house on the north west side of Inchconnachan, (good holding and very sheltered. bank shelves quickly near shore so you can anchor well in, try to anchor nearer the reads north of the old jetty)

  • Off the research centre N56 07'37.51 W004 36.52.60, North of Sallochy (Sheltered from Northerlies and Easterlies, keep clear of moorings, you can dinghy ashore and walk up to Dubh Loohan and take some pics)

Best Regards

Craig

Hi Craig,

Dont worry about the old mooring at golf bay.

The panoramic picture on the forum was the result of tying to the mooring with a few extra anchors down for safety to keep us in position for the golf open, My boat is fourth from the right, & I know last weekend John was happily swinging about in the Hurricane we call summer LOL cheers

The mooring was put down for "La Bohemian" prob around 10 years ago now, dont think its been touched since.. Colin at the Marina whould know all about it..

La Bohemian was a Grand Banks which was berthed at Cameron... probably quite heavy chain I would imagine, but if its not been touched in 10 years I wouldnt trust it.

Best Regards

Craig

Hi Craig

As SP said I would be just fine on that mooring 10 years is not that long for a mooring chain.

Paul

Mine is south beach inchmoan, I just can't see past it, great shallow water for the kids. Right at the tree thats close to the water in the middle of beach. Then again My boat is too small to sleep in lol!

The Rossdhu mooring is OK as Steve stated I stayed overnight during the storm we had last weekend. It can take a fair amount of tonnage as has been tested in the past wit5h raftups during the Loch Lomond open.
