Yes i think it is the cummins diesel,

I know alan i was looking at wake boat but v8 too expensive to run and had a change of heart and would like a wee place to sleep for when i get drunk up the islands Sleep

Any info on these boats would be great, my main concern is how quickly they get on the plane and also i may struggle getting it up the side of my house, Anybody know a good place to store boat out of water near loch thanks

Chris,

Peter's friend had a similar boat with the 1.7dti like the mariah and it got on the plane much quicker than the 3 litre petrol because of the turbo and the torque it has. It wasn't quite as fast top end though. He used to run about full throttle all day and it used next to no diesel. The two speed boats that take people out at luss have these engines and they get up on the plane with 8 people in them !

If its the cummins, they are very economical, but as said the top end speed is not as good.. would expect 34mph ish... on that boat... they are roughly the same onto the plane as 3l... so no deep water starts on a mono ski... but good for toying toys and kneeboards.. (friend has a 19ft Bayliner with the same engine)

Engine wise, pros and cons..... Thet dont like being run flat out for long periods of time... some history of melted pistons... turbo issues...*(Boat Diesel confirms, but mostly due to poor fuel and bad maintenance... the engine is the same as the Isuzu engine fitted to vauxhalls.. so parts are cheap...

Gearbox is Alpha One.. so usual issues with crash clutches etc... but should have later Alpha which is much better..

Not sure how good a boat it would make for boards..... but would fit doel fins to help it get up faster..... coupled with Stainless Prop

I like these engines.. I think they are very cheap to run

Best Regards

Craig

Can't speak much for the boat itself but it's the 1.7 diesel I have in my regal 1800. I got it brand new in 2005 & I can honestly say the only problem I have had was a fuel problem which was due to the way get my diesel (not the cleanest) The problem was debris in the tank which at the fuel pick up hose there is a small gauze filter on the end. That was getting clogged. What I did was take the gauze filter off & just leave in the bare hose but also put in a water seperating fuel filter, here's a pic of the extra fuel filter I added

mariah sc19 P1010104

New added filter is bolted on the left & the other main filter is on the right.
I think you would struggle with this engine if you had a boat load of people, wake tower & also the boat being a cuddy as well. all that extra weight I don't think the boat would have the hole shot to haul a wakeboard out the water. Kneeboarding & ringo's are fine.
My boat does just over the 40mph with just me in it flat out & it does 35mph flat out when fully & overloaded.
Here's a rough idea of holeshot with just 2 people on the boat

My wife & son on the boat pulling me out the water. I'm 6'4 & 18 stone

Fuel economy as already mentioned is unbelieveable. I'll never go to a petrol boat again.
Any more questions just ask

Cheers to all you guys who have spent the time answering my question.

It is better to get info from users rather than sellers any day.

Seen the boat yesterday and it is quite a wide boat, The engine is immaculate with only 27 hours on it.
The boat is seemingly a one owner boat from new and is in no way as good a condition as our boat. But this was just cosmetic blemishes and the grab rail on the bow was hanging off, no big deal. Nice layout and ideal for us and the dog, i asked him if the diesel would do the job of towing a wakeboarder around and he reckons my 3.0 mercruiser has more power than the diesel. Anyways the width of this boat is 8ft 2" and my drive is 8ft3" so not very much room to fit the boat. So my problem is storage and also the trade in price he offered for my boat wasnt good enough so that means selling my boat private in the winter Neutral
