Help From Experienced Boaters Empty
PostSubject: Help From Experienced Boaters   Help From Experienced Boaters Icon_minitimeSat Mar 27, 2010 10:10 am

Guys,

I was planning to head out either tomorrow, Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Monday (very flexible) for a trip to Ardlui to fill up with petrol, I have between quarter and half a tank in my Bayliner 285 (Will this be enough to get up) ?

I was also wondering if any of you experienced guys who have been to Ardlui before would like to come aboard and join me on the trip up, I have never been up past Rowardenan and very unfamiliar with the north side of the Loch and the channels I need to take etc. Or If you were also thinking of heading up to fill up could I follow ?

Plenty of wine and beer on board for whoever wants to join me.

Reply here or PM me if your free.

Hope some one will be free to help.

Chris

Chris I can't believe no-one has even replied to this post Shocked
I've been away all weekend, & am unavailable tomorrow, I feel you would have plenty of fuel to get you to ardlui mate also the only place you have to watch out for going north of rowardennan is the island that is across from Inversnaid hotel stay east of the island then there is another island further up called Island Vow or something like that, stay east of that as well.........In fact here's 3 video's to watch mate of me going up in my boat, 20mins or so of footage, be patient & watch all the footage & you'll get the idea of where to go. footage starts just north of luss

Chris you will make Ardlui and back to the marina with the fuel you have onboard. Why not just jerry can fuel into your boat.Seems an expensive way of having to fill up.

Just buy a couple of 20 litre fuel cans and hand bash it into the boat.

SP is cruising to Ardlui with a few other boat owners for the Easter weekend

John,

Are these gauges accurate ?

My invite from the CH cruise club must have got lost in the post. Embarassed

I might just hold fire another few weeks until it is all sorted in the marina.

Chris the gauge actually under reads what is in the tank, but you should be OK to cruise upto Ardlui. It will take a few hours at trolling speed and about 45 mins at planning speed.

Send a Private messge to SP and cruise with the fleet to Ardlui on Friday
