| was up the narrows all saturday left at 8pm , should have been 5pm but the startermotor desided to play funny buggers and jam, so imagine the bit in armagedon when the russian guy smackes the pipe with a spanner , yup that was me, couple of smackes and !! she lives !! lol.
was up thursday night and friday night as well helping my friend with his diesel engine, running like a bag of spanners, one diags cable and a laptop and had it running sweet in an hour, never even got my hands dirty lolo.
Oh and the seals were back on friday night, those guys are keen , chopy white caps in the loch and they were still out swimming.

| I'll be there wed, thu, fri. camping on north inchmoan beach. forecast is not too clever & with a good southerly wind blowing so I'll shelter at north beach I was on the water Thursday afternoon & went through Narrows. I'm new to this forum but I'll look out for you in future | |

| wont be up this weekend , going down to devon for a week camping , leaving saturday morning for an 8 hour drive. should be up during the week to reconect all the batterys to the soler pannels, when the starter jammed , thought it was a flat battery and swapped them all round , so the boats sitting just now with 1 connected and 3 doing nothing. will keep an eye out for you when out on the loch.

| Jim,
If it is a Mercruiser you find it is an Aux relay that plays up. You just here a click, but this is not the starter solonoid on the starter body it is the aux relay. They go u/s quite often.
The same thing happened on my Bayliner 285 7.4MPI just as I was taken her up to Ardlui for the last time.

| Hi john, its Definitely the starter, turned the key and all I got was a brrrrrrrr noise like the pre engage solanoid was not throwing the pinion out far enough, after three good hits with a spanner it started another job added to the list for the winter | |

| It can be a pain changing out the starter motor. I had to change the starter on the Bayliner 285 last year at required someone who was very slim to slide down near the starter to remove it.
I have a brand new solonoid if you want it as it is just lying in my toolchest at home, but it depends on the type of starter some have a 3 hole fixing or 2 hole fixing to secure the solonoid to the starter.
