Boating adept- some initial questions. Empty
PostSubject: Boating adept- some initial questions.   Boating adept- some initial questions. Icon_minitimeTue Mar 16, 2010 12:45 pm

Hi Everyone,

My name is Michal, living in Stirling for last five years.
I'd like to start our boating adventure, as a way to spend family time.
My initial plan is to get a 4-5 people inflatable, with an 10-15 or 20hp engine, to use it in different scottish loch every weekend.
To be exact I am currently looking at 3.8m Honda (T38-IE with BF15 engine).
I do not have the driveway, thus inflatable does seem to be good start - it should fit into a trunk of large seven-seater.

What I do not know is:
-if we will be enjoying it: is there any place I can hire inflatable for a day?
-how much hassle and time takes to inflate/deflate/clean.
-where I can /(and I am allowed to) slip it.

What I have read:
-introduction to boating.
-Loch Lomond bylaws.

Any comments welcome. If there's someone you know who's keen to have a pint or two and share experiences please let me know.

Thanks in advance.
Michal

Hi Michal,

I have sent you a private message about the inflatable I have for sale.

You will have to register any boat for LL at one of the national park offices on LL. It costs £5 for the 1st year then they send you your annual numbers free there after.

Your ideal boat is probably going to be hard to find second hand.

A 15hp to 20hp might be heavy but certainly doable on the size of inflatable your looking at.

Most people who are keen on getting into boating LOVE it! Once you have the bug going to be hard to loose it IMO.

Hope this helps slightly.

Chris

By browsing the web I found Hondas - T38IE was my first choice, but 2nd hand one could also be interesting.

Thanks again.
