| Pray for warmer weather davie or you'll be going nowhere. I was at DMMS on saturday & it's frozen with at least 1cm thick ice from the Marina right across to the mouth of the leven. A tour boat come up the leven & broke off a huge slab of ice that then started to float down the river & push uponto the banking. The sound was like a million breaking bottles. All the kids over the other side of the river thought it was amazing, this big slab of ice being pushed up the bank. | |

| Anyone been on the Loch the last couple of days? Just going by Big Zebs post I don't want to bring the boat up if the Marina is frozen or the Loch has icebergs in it Would also probably have to drain the water out the engine at the end of each day also or I may end up with a cracked block. Whats everyones thoughts? would miss not getting out in the boat but would be a lot of hassle if everything is frozen over. Cheers Davie | |

| Hi Chris, Spoke to them first thing this morning, Marina and parts of the Loch are frozen solid. So I won't be bringing the boat and will not be up till Sunday now (we'll get a beer in yet) Anyone with their boats in the Marina it might be worth checking on them over the weekend. Cheers Davie | |

| I'm just back from the marina and its all frozen over again with the majority of the loch frozen as well
As i was enjoying the pleasant solar heat gains through the canopy from the sun, was bloody warm at the helm i heard a horrible crunching noise, went to investigate and watched one of the cruise boats from Balloch, Sweenies or something come out from the leven imatating an ice breaker
They did not get very far though before having to turn arround and head back up the river, i'm guessing its a steel hull so must be pretty thick in some parts to stop them
Also saw a guy with boat and trailer turning into CH as i was pulling out onto A82, i hope he wasn't thinking of slipping it today no bloody chance

| bloody ice, the place is like an icerink, most boats are solid with ice round them. Best to get up asap to loosen it off before any damage is caused.

| As long as you have plenty of heaters onboard yer boat should be ok. Breaking the ice around the boat only makes it become thicker as the broken ice freezes on to new ice forming. | |

| Steve,
I manage to make it to the marina this afternoon to see for myself. The cold got the better of me as I was gasping for air just to make to the berth.
Anyway manage to break a few bits of ice and then gave up.
In the end I just gave up and headed home.

| Brilliant pic seen from above.
Just need to watch out for ice sheets hidden below the surface when all this starts to melt. Could do a fair bit of damage to a boat if ran into at speed.
