Spoke to the Marina today to enquire about fuel prices, was told that it will be a couple of weeks before they are able to fuel boats due to the repairs taking place.

Hope you all have full tanks for easter :-)

Diesel price £1.13 per litre

Well, here's hoping they get it fixed very soon. If not then I'd hope that Cameron House would offer some alternative fuelling means (such as getting in a mobile tanker at the weekends) or provide some compensation against our berthing fees if the repairs start to impact on our ability to use our boats!

Kenny you are going to have to do it the old fashion way and hand bash it in from jerry cans. Both my tanks are now filled to the top with diesel.

Agreed, there could be folks coming up from down south for a weeks holiday during easter to discover that they can't use their boats!

Some sort of alternative should be offered, and not just a 22 mile trip to Ardlui.

Next time the Celtic Warrior is due to be filled up from a tamker at Sweeney's. Boat owners of diesel boats could also fill up that same day.

I was going to fill up with cans but after reading our T&C I see it is not allowed plus petrol can be dangerous if filling in an unsafe enviroment. I will wait.

Hopefully it won't be too much longer thou.

I will make sure I always have full tanks from now on!

That's the thing Chris. If the fuel jetty is out of play for a lengthy period of time, we'll have no option but to fill from jerry cans, and the Marina will need to make an exception in the meantime and/or provide an alternative fuelling facility.

Personally I think travelling all the way up the loch just to fill up (and using more than 1/3 of tank to do so) is not a viable or cost effective option.

But lets not panic yet. Hopefully CH will come back to advise that it will be resolved in the next few weeks. (Anyone from CH Marina care to comment?)

Cheers

I would think under the circumstances the marina already know about filling using jerry cans, but turn a blind eye as long as you careful and do not advertise it. Filling your boat with petrol is no different than filling your car it is just that a boat takes alot more and do not smoke a fag in your while filling.

I have spoken to Colin to when the fuel dock will be back in action and he was hoping it was to be for Easter weekend. There has been contractors on site working to resolve the issue, but at the end of the day it will be the relevent authorities that will give the all clear to operate the fuel dock.

I see the diesel is back on now, but not the petrol (which is what I need).

Anyone hear when that will be sorted?

Hi
I mailed Colin directly at the beginning of the week, suggesting he put out an official marina email to advise everyone of what's happening, but got no response to my mail, and have seen nothing being issued by the marina.

So seems we must go on living in ignorance of what's happening in OUR marina!

Cheers

Hi guys, A bit of good news. There are 3 x 20 lt Jerry cans for use at the Marina office. These can be borrowed by those unfortunate enough to still be waiting on the petrol being available. Fill them at Balloch and get some fuel in your boats. Who knows how long we ll wait on the pumps coming back on line at CH.

I know what you mean, lovely place... but got to be the most expensive and smallest fish and chips I ever ate... not too mention it wasnt even served on a plate :-)

Cant help feeling if they dropped their prices they might get more custom.

They might get more custom if they werent closed for private events about every second weekend. You think the fish & chips is dodgy value? Try a steak at £33. What a Face The prices in there have more front than a month of weather forecasts. Simply not worth it unless you have no other option + a recent big lottery win. Recommend Balloch House Hotel instead, decent food & drink at affordable prices, plain & simple but nice atmosphere and far fewer posers.

I am a regular visitor to the Balloch House & confirm the meals & wine/ale are good value.

The staff are very attentive when time allows as it can get very busy early evening but after about 7PM the early eaters are away.

For me it has to be the Cruin, plus you can get the boat moored there no probs.

Cruin can be as bad as the boathouse, after managing to dock with whipping winds last season and taking a nice gouge out of my starboard bow i took the hungry brood up the jetty only to be informed they had a wedding on and would not be serving food for another 2-3 hours, all be the food is fine and prices not too bad

Macdonalds is open long hours, is never closed for private parties and resonably priced!

Never thought I would say it but Macdonalds is proving better than Cameron House lol.

Good old ronald! lol
